ABOUT

"Chicago-based Blues and R&B artist makes his indie debut with a hauntingly soulful album to be released in 2017."

"Tydis Anthony is one of the scene's breakout artists."

 Shirley Henderson , EBONY Magazine

A Chicago-based bassist/vocalist/songwriter, Tydis Anthony has worked with some of the industry’s best musicians, both in his hometown and abroad. In addition to performing throughout the United States, he’s had gigs in Singapore, Australia and Indonesia, which have all impacted him and his signature sound.

With his soulful baritone, his voice is as distinct as R&B crooner Teddy Pendergrass and as penetrating as the legendary Bill Withers. His bass playing style, a progressive funky blues infused with R&B overtones, is grooved with both rough and smooth arrangements to satisfy the audience.

Raised in the city’s Cabrini Green Housing Development, he became a self-taught musician, delving into his old-school roots of R&B, BLUES, P-Funk, Jazz Fusion and Rock & Roll. In Asia, his voice could be heard on a MTV Top 10 video. Tydis Anthony also wrote a song for a documentary called Gang Girl: A Mother’s Journey to Save Her Daughter.

In 2018 Tydis collaborated with producer, songwriter and musician Joseph Cigan to be a featured vocalist and bassist on the new release CD under the band's name Cigancigan. The new CD Event Horizons will feature Tydis Anthony's vocal with a unique Brazilian Jazz arrangement with an R&B Soulful Funk vibe that will satisfy your listening pleasure.

Working with Grammy Award winning engineer Blaise Barton and Brian Leach at Joyride Studios in Chicago, CIGAN-CIGAN featuring Tydis Anthony will definitely be a work to be remembered. So for a temporary time, enjoy this sample track but listen out for the CD release in November 2018.
